11th Annual Turning Hearts Celebration

We had another amazing Labor Day celebration, complete with food, fun, speaking, music, football, volleyball, & lots of interacting with old & new friends.
A small portion of the football crew.
(disclaimer: the john deere tractor is NOT a Bontrager tractor =))
The smiling faces that greeted people at the food line.
The Bates Family was once again a huge blessing and enjoyed by all.

Support Chick-Fil-A!

Last week we took a few hours off one crazy busy day and went to the Coralville Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
Chick-Fil-A recently came out with the statement that "marriage is only between man & woman".
The media of course hated this and many people said that the company should be "shut down" for their "intolerant" stand.
Their plan to destroy Chick-Fil-A has backfired and instead,
sales at Chick-Fil-A have gone up 30%!!
It just goes to show that there are still people in this country that believe that God's ways are best and are willing to support a cause like Chick-Fil-A that is still standing on biblical principles.
Our family whole-heartedly endorses Chick-Fil-A and we want to encourage all of our blog readers to find a Chick-Fil-A near you and go in on Wednesdays (family day) and show your support! Tell them that you are THANKFUL that they are willing to support marriage as God instituted it from the very beginning!

Labor Day Work Days

Several families (friends of ours) visited us the week prior to Labor Day to help us in getting the farm & house ready for the Turning Hearts Celebration.
lots of work deserves a little chocolate treat. =)
Enjoying a few games after a hard days' work!

Roads are Clear!

Just to let everyone know...the road crews worked very hard on our road to get the part past our farm finished in time for Labor Day. They did an excellent job and finished yesterday.
So no detours will be needed to arrive!
Just follow your GPS, or map, or whatever. =)
Come join us Monday at
1881 Johnson Washington Road
Kalona, IA 52247
*If you see any "road closed" signs, just ignore them. They've been up for over a month and we drive the road every day. =)

Update on the Life of the Bontragers

Heres a recap (in pictures) of the past 3 weeks.
We've been.....harvesting garden produce, mulching & weeding the gardens/orchard, canning, hosting a widows banquet for widows & single women from our community,& cleaning both indoors & outdoors in preparation for Labor Day, among other things.
We also had the rare treat of hosting relatives from NY & Canada! We enjoyed several days with my grandparents, and the weekend with aunt, uncle, & cousins.
Grandma teaching Liz how to crochet
Grandpas first piano lesson!
(taught by Hudson)
Rebecca loved cousin Wesley's stories.
And making him wear all the dress-up hats she could find. =)
Huds loved getting to see his buddy, Marissa, again.
{Marissa's fiance was with them so we got to meet him. When dad came in from choring that night Hudson told him, solomly,
"Dadddy, I met the man that stole my girl."
we all got a good laugh out of that one. and in spite of Hudson being rather unsure of Jon at first, by the end of their visit he told me "I like Jon and I think he is a very nice man".}
