Family Prayer Request

As a family, we are requesting y'alls prayers today. We had an amazing concert here in Foley, Alabama last night, and headed out late to go on to our next destination-Hattiesburg, MS, where we were scheduled to sing this morning. About ten miles down the road, our bus broke down. We were able to get to the side of the road for the night. After some research by our trusty drivers, it was determined that we most likely had a bad transmission. This morning found us all up early scrambling to eat breakfast + pack up the things we would need for 1-2 days without the bus.

Praise the Lord this happened in Foley and not in two weeks when we are in Mexico! This is SUCH a blessing! The pastor from the church we were at last night came and picked us up and brought us back here to the church guest houses. Mom, Allison, & I were able to attend a church ladies prayer meeting/bible study which was SO timely for all of us and such a blessing. The rest stayed back here to do school and music practice.
Dad has been with the bus all day. It took all morning to finally get someone to come and tow the bus to the shop. Once it finally got there, the situation was assessed and sure enough, our transmission has given out. They will be ordering a new transmission tomorrow and it will arrive and be installed by...next Thursday. One week from today.

That means that this singing family of twelve with all of our gear, clothing, instruments, schoolbooks, etc etc etc...will be spending the next week touring in MS, LA, & TX, in a 15-passenger van + trailer. Yes, hence the need for your prayers. =) We are obviously completely unprepared for this-we have no luggage and no coolers. We make our own meals on our bus and we sleep in our bunks, and thus we are very unprepared in the whole world of "hotels + eating out" while on tour.

It is so amazing how God works things out in HIS timing. This last week we as a family have been studying the character qualities of gratefulness + flexibility.
And this current "trial" is quite timely, even though in lots of ways it seems like the worst timing imaginable. How thankful I am that God always knows what is BEST for us!

And just because we all need to learn to laugh in the middle of frustrating days (like today for us), here are a few quotes that give perspective:

"Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape."

"Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you have in mind."

"Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a BLESSING."

We would greatly appreciate y'alls prayers in the coming weeks. This will definitely be a stretch for our family, and we will need a lot of grace and patience to get through. I was just  telling someone the other day about how I am getting quite tired of the cramped space + close quarters of the bus. Hmm... In comparison to a van, the bus now seems like a palace!

"Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, oh my soul".
Psalm 103:22
