Support Chick-Fil-A!

Last week we took a few hours off one crazy busy day and went to the Coralville Chick-Fil-A for lunch.
Chick-Fil-A recently came out with the statement that "marriage is only between man & woman".
The media of course hated this and many people said that the company should be "shut down" for their "intolerant" stand.
Their plan to destroy Chick-Fil-A has backfired and instead,
sales at Chick-Fil-A have gone up 30%!!
It just goes to show that there are still people in this country that believe that God's ways are best and are willing to support a cause like Chick-Fil-A that is still standing on biblical principles.
Our family whole-heartedly endorses Chick-Fil-A and we want to encourage all of our blog readers to find a Chick-Fil-A near you and go in on Wednesdays (family day) and show your support! Tell them that you are THANKFUL that they are willing to support marriage as God instituted it from the very beginning!

  2. YES!!! Thank you so much for posting this! On the "support Chi-Fil-A-Day" our Chic-Fil-A was so full there were lines wrapped around the building. Then people started sing "GOD bless America..." Thank you for supporting Chic-Fil-A! And I love those pictures!

  3. The bible teaches tolerance and love for all men and women because we are all created in God's image. Love and support everyone's lives and their choices.

You seek religious freedom to live your life as you wish and educate your children as you wish, why can't you see fit to support other's beliefs, in this case, homosexuals who just want the same rights as you. Does a gay couple's right to marry diminish your relationship with your husband? And if you say yes, name how. I'd love to have an intelligent, fact-based conversation with you on how you have come to that conclusion.

    Your post is very disappointing.

  4. What a wonderful stand these people have made!! May God bless them greatly as they go on with what is RIGHT. I don't live in USA so i will not even try to get to a Chi-Fi-A but I am glad you all enjoy it so much! Have fun and God bless you!

  5. 1) Chick-fil-A has donated at least $5 million to organizations (including a certified hate group) that, among other things, depict gay people as pedophiles, want to make "gay behavior" illegal, and even say gay people should be "exported" out of America.

Even if you oppose same-sex marriage, do you really want to support a company that advocates putting gay people in jail, or "exporting" them, just because they're gay?

    2) Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy didn't merely say he supports traditional marriage. Dan Cathy said if you support gay marriage, you "are inviting God's judgment on our nation," and that we "shake our fist at Him" when we do. Dan Cathy also said same-sex marriage is the result of a "deprived" mind and called it "twisted up kind of stuff."

Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you really think gay marriage is "inviting God's judgment on our nation"? Haven't we all heard enough blame from those who claim to speak for the Lord, like after Katrina or, more recently, after the shooting in Aurora, Colo.?

    3) Chick-fil-A supports organizations that have claimed they can change gay people into straight people -- "pray away the gay" -- despite the fact that practically every major medical organization has stated that this is not only impossible but dangerous and harmful.

Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you support fake "science" that is known to harm the very people it claims to help?

    4) The media keep saying Chick-fil-A has never discriminated, but the truth is that Chick-fil-A has been sued over a dozen times for employment discrimination. That's what a leading business publication, Forbes, stated in 2007, when they also called Chick-fil-A a "cult" and reported that Chick-fil-A's founder and CEO Truett Cathy said he wanted to hire married people because they are more industrious and productive. Truett Cathy has also said he would probably fire someone who "has been sinful or done something harmful to their family members."

Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you want to support what some call a "cult" whose CEO says he would fire employees for "being sinful"?

    5) Chick-fil-A is just exercising their First Amendment rights by running a business based on the Bible, right? Wrong. There's a line between the "free exercise of religion" and violating the law. If Chick-fil-A is violating the law by discriminating against gay people, or by firing women so that they can be "stay home" moms, as one woman who is suing Chick-fil-A says in court documents, that's not exercising religious expression or free speech, and that's not a First Amendment issue. It may be, if the court decides, a violation of the law.

Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you want to support a company that might fire women to force them to be "stay home" moms against their will?

There are plenty of good restaurants that are happy to work hard for your hard-earned dollar. Why support a company that is working so hard to deny people their rights?

Jesus taught love, tolerance and inclusion. That is not Chick-Fil-A.

  7. I am one of your regular blog readers but do not comment often. I live overseas so do not know who or what Chick-fill-A really is. However, I would like to encourage anyone who will speak out for God.
There are two kinds of people in this world: believers and "rejectors". By logic there cannot be anything in between.
You cannot pick up a Bible with a mind to proove that it is wrong, neither can you spout teachings that you don't really know on what context they were written.
God IS love (1 John 4:8). If you don't have God in your heart then you cannot know or experience what love really means.
God is tolerant, more than a simple human can imagine, otherwise he would wipe out anybody who goes against His precious teachings. (John 10:18)
God wants to include every one who wishes to be part of His family, but there is a barrier-SIN. Sin was introduced just after the formation of the world so you can see it is nothing new. God is perfect and cannot bare the sight of wrong. He gave His Son to die in our place, to take away our wrong, and gives man the choice to believe or not. It is not a question of religion, it is a question of faith.
The whole of the Bible becomes very clear once you have a clean heart to give to God. Please, now read Genesis 2:22 and 1 Corinthians 6:9 . Clear enough, don't you think?

  8. We had that a few weeks ago. It was packed. We all make choices, but we'll either enjoy the blessings of that choice or reap the consequences of that choice. God's Word stands firm. It says that "He made them, male and female" (Genesis 1:27 OT,Matthew 19:4 NT) and that "a MAN ought to leave his father and mother, and be joined to his WIFE, and the two shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24 OT,Matthew 19:5 NT).

  9. Christianity is following the teachings of Jesus "Christ". Jesus said not one word against homosexuals.
I can not imagine Jesus turning away a gay person when He accepted whores and lepers and even the Samaritans. Please follow the real Jesus. Don't pick and choose from quotes that push a hateful agenda. Live and love as Jesus.
You may be against gay marriage but why do anything to harm others just because you don't agree? Chick-Fil-A is very hurtful towards others and that is not what Christ taught.
Oh, and the people who want Chick closed because of their discriminatory beliefs are wrong too. As long as chick doesn't break the law, I say let the market take care of Chickie.

  10. I would like to give you credit for keeping opposite opinions from your own on your blog. It shows your character as a family. Your opinions are clearly different but you allow others to express theirs. I am very impressed. I have never seen an other blog like yours that allows anyone to speak an opposite opinion.

  11. Hi to the Bontrager family. I have been following your blog for about a year now but have never left a comment. However, I felt the need to comment this time and to commend you for your unwavering commitment to the unchanging Holy Word of God. What a joy it is to view the pictures and read the comments about all that our gracious Lord is doing in your lives.
Recently I ordered your latest CD Salt and Light. What a blessing. I listen to it almost daily. It blesses me to see the love that your children have for one another and for their parents and the admiration they have for you the parents as well as for one another. I am also blessed by your children’s love for the truth of God’s Word, which obviously stems from mom and dad’s love for the Word.
Many claim to know the teachings of Jesus Christ but are severely misled not understanding that Jesus only quoted from the OT because there was no NT (that includes the four gospels) until after the death and resurrection.
Keep up the good work Bontrager family. I look forward to your next post. The Shelton family stands with you in prayer and we hope to see you this next year at one of your upcoming events. “Fight the good fight of faith” 1 Timothy 6:12

  12. Jesus also refuted a lot of the Old Testament/Torah while creating a new religious philosophy, Christianity.

Please find a Jesus quote that admonishes gays. There aren't any. Jesus also never mentions abortion. It makes you wonder why.

The Bible is here to make you think, not close your minds. The Bible contradicts itself so much that you need to use your God given brain and heart in order to have real faith. If you are just going to parrot what others say, or what the Bible says without true thought then you are denying God by not using that special gift He gave man, our brains!

To question God and the Bible is not a sin. It is a must!

God does not make mistakes so Chick giving money to hate groups is not to be taken lightly. I for one don't support hate or fear.

  13. In Corinthians 6:9 it mentions "abusers of themselves with mankind". This might be difficult to understand so let us look at what the word "abuse" really means. The prefix "ab" comes from the Latin meaning "bad" in the sense of wicked. So "ab - use" means a wicked use, in this particular case, of themselves.
If you take translations of this verse from other Bibles you find this:
Reina Valera 1977 in Spanish simply writes "homosexuales", La Sacra Biblia 1991 in Italian puts "omosessuali", The newest Catalan version translates "homosexuals", the Reina Valera textual Bible writes "homosexuales", whilst the Greek/Spanish interlineal says "Sodomitas" and the Darby translation also writes "Sodomites".
We can deduct from this then that just because the KJV doesn't actually mention the word you are looking for, the message is clear to those who want to spend time to make a serious study of the matter.
As to abortion, God is the Giver of life, God says that children are a blessing, and God says we must not kill. Regardless of the circumstances it is not for us to decide whether a life should end or not.
Digger, I hope this helps you find the real Truth. I am praying for you. Choose your thoughts and words with care because on Judgement Day you are the only person who will answer for them.

  14. Don't pray for me Violet. I don't need your patronizing Christianity. You are digging for a way to hate people and you seem well adapt at it.

As I said, JESUS says not one word against homosexuals. If you really believe in Christ then listen to HIM.

Don't get distracted with all the other messages, though the Old Testament does have some great messages, it also has a lot of weird stuff. The whole Abraham and Isaac episode I like to think was just a bad nightmare. My God wouldn't do that to anyone!

If Christians would just read Christ words and understand His message there would be a whole lot less hate, war, and poverty in this world.

  17. I would just like to add one more comment because I have been thinking throughout the whole day about this. Bitterness is a negative demonstration of unbelief. God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are One and the same, yesterday, today and forever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Who is bitter? I'm realistic. See all the crap going down in Libya and Egypt now? All religious inspired hate and insanity. Most wars are due to religious intolerance. We really need to get out of the awful habit of hating those who believe and live differently. Stop hating and start loving thy neighbor as yourself!

If Jesus is God then who was holding down the fort in Heaven when Jesus was walking the earth? Jesus was a prophet and the son of God. We are all the sons and daughters of God. As a Catholic, I was raised with the holy trinity. Never quite understood it though. I can't have faith in something that just doesn't make sense. That's kind of a human way of thinking. God will understand.

  20. Our blog is read by a wide variety of people and we encourage comments from anyone, even those who disagree with our views and convictions. Those comments don't change our beliefs. Our family believes that this is still free America where people can voice their thoughts and not be shut down just because they believe differently. At the same time, we are very strong on what we believe and no amount of comments, negative or not, are going to change our minds. We know what we believe and that is GODS WORD. Some choose to pick & choose with Gods Word. We believe that the entire Bible is true and is written for Christians to follow and obey. We stand on the Word of God, the One who created the world and ordained marriage between man & woman. To us it is not a debate, it is what God said and since God said it, we believe it. We do not hate people who don't believe like us. God loves everyone-that is so clear in His Word. It is also clear that He hates sin, and He lays out quite plainly in His Word what sin is.
This will be our only comment on this discussion. There is no need for us to repeat ourselves because this is what we believe, and everyone reading this can know that.
We appreciate all the comments left. We will only be deleting comments that use inappropriate language.
    Blessings,

  21. The Bible says, ''Thou shalt not kill'' tell me, What is abortion? It kills a baby, a wonderful creature that God is creating inside its mother's womb. That is breaking one of God's commandments and the Bible DOES say something about abortion now that you think about it doesn't it? Besides, if the girl who is insane enough to want to kill her baby goes ahead with abortion, why on earth did she go and have a relationship that isn't right?? You gain by thinking about it....

  22. About homosexuals.... God made MAN and WOMAN, He did not make MAN and MAN or WOMAN and WOMAN. He made us like we are for a reason and a purpose and the includes marriage between a man and a woman. If you still think that homosexuality is right, then please find the verse in the BIBLE that tells there is nothing wrong about it and that God planned it to be like that all along.
