A Merry Heart

"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance..."
Proverbs 15:13
"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..."
Proverbs 17:22
Marlin, Denver, and Taylor share a happy moment at the park.

Anybody want to "share" a doughnut?

This is REALLY funny!

Playing outdoors is so fun!

M-m-m-m, I love potato chips!

Aren't we having a good time??

Elizabeth is loving life!

Weekend in Illinois

This past weekend we headed to Lake Fork, IL to spend time with our friends, the Vincents, and to sing at an event on their farm.
Just before lunch we stopped to stretch our legs at a park. Hudson thoroughly enjoyed the pushes from Elizabeth on the swing.

Our friend, Nicole Chmelar, went along to take care of Rebecca while we sang. She was also a help in so many other ways and in addition gave us the gift of laughter!

Does this look like a hardworking young man?

The Vincent's planned an event for families in their front yard. There were hayrides, a potluck, a word from both Chris Hogan and Marlin, and a time of singing by our family. Our stage was their front porch. It was a blessed sight to see so many families with their babies and little children enjoying the outdoors and Christian fellowship together.

After attending Noble Family Fellowship with the Vincent family on Sunday morning, we drove on the Arthur, IL to share in the evening service at North Vine Mennonite Church.
Denver listened attentively as Marlin told him about Christians being persecuted all over the world. This conversation takes place in the song, "I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb".
"We are God's little people, we got a light and we're gonna let it shine."

Happy 2nd Birthday, Hudson!!

We joked about all the "girls" that loved to kiss Hudson this summer. :) Other than his adoring sisters, we are referring to the many mosquitos that, ahem, loved him.:) He didn't appreciate that attention very much. Poor little guy!! In August his face was literally peppered with "kiss marks".
This little guy is 2 today!!! I wonder how we ever did without him. What in the world did we have to laugh at??:) Just before I came to post this, Mom was putting him to bed & I jokingly said to him "Goodnight, Plumpy." He grinned as I gave him a kiss and replied "I not pumpy!!! I a feetie pie!!!" (sweetie pie, for those of you who need interpretation:)) That is his newest comeback to all the nicknames we have for him. His chosen and favorite one is "Feetie Pie!" :) His smile and enthusiasm are very contagious and his giggle is one of a kind! He is a great helper and loves to wash "egglins" (eggs) with Allison "feed titties" (kitties) with Denver, "pay pano" (piano), "pet it" (touch Rebecca), and his latest hobby is listening to lots of "mooskic" (music) :)
His vocabulary grows every day as he is with older siblings who like to try out their new spelling words on everyone. As he is an extreme copycat, all those big words the "big kids" say are often heard not long after by the little repeater. Hudson's favorite activity is anything farm-related. He loves playing farm and riding with Daddy in the combine, tractor, and skid loader. His brothers are always willing and eager to take him along with them while they chore and he really loves when he can do that!
Truly God has blessed us with this loving and dear little man who is so full of life and love!
Happy Birthday, Hudson!! We love you!

Happy 40th Birthday, Mommy!!

This is our beautiful Mother, who is turning 40 today!!
Her personal birthday bio is as follows.........
* She has spent approx. 90 months (over 7 years for the math wiz:)) of her 40 years pregnant. IMPRESSIVE!!
* Her real name is Rebecca Marie
* Her favorite foods are anything from the garden, fresh fruit, & chocolate
* The one and only food she cannot eat is eggs
* She graduated from a well-known university with a degree in, ahem, "domestic engineering." just kidding. (but that is what she does!!)
* Her favorite chapter in the Bible is Psalm 1
* Her hobbies are scrap-booking, reading, gardening, & cooking.
* No one can believe she is 40 because she looks so young!
* She invariably gets asked, many times during every pregnancy, "Oh, so when are you due? And is this your first?" :) One lady asked this one time when I was w/ Mom shopping (she probably just thought it was 2 sisters or something!) and I was so privileged to get to watch her jaw hit the floor as Mom, grinning, replied, " Well, no, it's actually my 10th!!!" :) People seriously just can't believe it. And their responses are so funny. :) I mean, 10 isn't even that many!!
All 10 of her children (and her husband) are firm in their belief that she is the bestest, most wonderful, sweetest, awesomest, beautifulest mommy ever!! Please join us in wishing her a happy birthday!!!
We Love You Mother!!! Happy Birthday!!!
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies....Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."

Happy 40th Birthday, Mommy!!

"They joy before thee according to the joy in harvest"Driving the combine is what Marlin loves to do more than anything else on the farm.
There is usually a "waiting list" for little ones who want to ride with daddy in the combine. Yesterday it was Taylor's turn.

Harvest is another reminder that everything we have is from God's hands.

"Let the words of my mouth...."

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Psalm 19:14
This is my prayer for myself and my family, that we would bring honor and glory to God in everything we say and do. A friend told me once that she tries to imagine that she is living in a glass house which would mean that anyone could observe her in everyday life. What a challenging thought!
"Anything worth doing is worth doing well." I can't remember where this quote comes from, but I repeat it often to my children whether they are working on Phonics, (as is Taylor in this picture) or doing a daily chore.

One of the most rewarding things about homeschooling has been teaching my children to read. This past year it was Denver who learned his alphabet sounds and then started putting the sounds together. He went from reading 3 letter words to reading the Bible in just months!

Chelsy loves capturing the "little things" in life in photography. Any guesses as to who these toes belong to?
Rebecca is already leaving the brand-new stage behind. She is spending more time awake and alert. She has even given us a few smiles!!
Joshua is our animal lover. We have 3 orphan kittens which he and Denver have adopted.
"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Psalm 24:1
